Volvo Trucks has announced the launch of its next-generation heavy-duty electric trucks, marking a significant advancement in the electrification of Australia's transport sector.
The new models-Volvo FH, FM, and FMX Electric-boast an impressive range of up to 400 kilometres, catering to a diverse array of transport applications.

These electric trucks are equipped with an all-new driveline designed for maximum flexibility and productivity. The integrated gearbox power take-off (PTO) allows operators to power auxiliary equipment such as concrete mixers or refuse units without the need for additional motors. This innovation simplifies operations and enhances efficiency for businesses.

Charging capabilities have also seen substantial improvements. The trucks can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 60 minutes, minimising downtime and ensuring that operations remain seamless. This rapid charging feature is particularly beneficial for businesses requiring quick turnaround times.

Tom Chapman, Vice President of Volvo Trucks Australia, emphasised the company's commitment to sustainable transport solutions, stating, "We stand firm in our belief that electric vehicles will deliver a large part of the world's truck transport in the future. With the amazing performance of all our new trucks, it's easy to see why."

The new electric models are set to be available for Australian customers to order from 15th June 2026. This launch aligns with the growing demand for environmentally friendly transport options and positions Volvo Trucks as a leader in the electric truck market.

For Australian businesses, the introduction of these advanced electric trucks presents an opportunity to reduce operational costs associated with fuel and maintenance, while also contributing to environmental sustainability. The extended range and enhanced performance make these vehicles a viable option for a wide range of transport needs, from urban logistics to regional distribution.

As the transport industry continues to evolve, embracing electric vehicles like Volvo's new range will be crucial for businesses aiming to stay competitive and meet the increasing demand for greener transport solutions.
